INSS 2021 – Symposium on Heterogeneity of Obesity and Implications for Cancer

The 2nd annual Interdisciplinary Nutrition Sciences Symposium will be held virtually June 21-22, 2021. Dr. Susana Rovira-Llopis Awarded Boston NORC Small Grant

Dr. Susana Rovira-Llopis, Postdoctoral Fellow at Joslin Diabetes Center has received a small grant award for her project “Study of the mechanisms involved in exercise-induced adipokine secretion by generation of a CRISPR transgenic mouse”, which will use the Center’s Transgenic Core. Dr. Rovira-Llopis is an early career investigator in the lab of Dr. Laurie Goodyear. This project will generate an HA-tagged G protein-coupled receptor 81 (GPR81) floxed mouse model using the CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology. NORC Initiative to Advance the Careers of Researchers from Groups Underrepresented in Academia

The Nutrition Obesity Research Centers (NORCs), supported by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), host an initiative to identify the barriers and challenges to success of scientists from URiA groups and to identify actionable strategies to overcome these challenges.
